Summary

Assist Physical Therapists, Athletic Trainers, and Physical Therapy Assistants in the delivery of patient treatment programs and associated functions. As a member of the MedSport aide staff, the duties you perform are essential for the efficient and effective operation of the clinic.

Responsibilities*

  • Prepare treatment area, mobility equipment, exercise equipment, and/or ambulatory aids for patient care.
  • Maintain clinical environment with daily cleaning and stocking duties, as assigned by clinical staff, supervisors or managers.
  • Transfer patients to and from exercise equipment or treatment mats/tables/beds.
  • Perform routine treatment procedures in accordance with established protocols and programs planned by the Physical Therapist or Athletic Trainer.
  • Provides additional physical assistance during the provision of patient care and transport patients as needed.
  • Participates in ongoing maintenance programs for patient care equipment.
  • Responsible for inventory and maintaining a sufficient quantity of treatment supplies.
  • Instruct patients in physical therapy activities, including use of equipment and home exercise program.
  • Conduct performance tests under the direction of clinical staff.
  • Processing patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas.
  • This position requires extensive standing/walking, as well as lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring of patients. 

Required Qualifications*

  • A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
  • Ability to understand and communicate information both orally and in writing is necessary. 

Desired Qualifications*

  • An interest in working with patients in physical therapy is desirable. 
  • Experience or degree in movement science, pre-physical therapy, pre-athletic training or pre-physician assistant programs.

Work Schedule

Monday thru Friday; some evenings required. This position is located at MedSport inside Domino's Farms. 

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
