Summary

Opportunity to work in a team environment providing services to youth between the ages of 0 and 21 for the Michigan Medicine Regional Alliance for Healthy Schools school-based health centers. Support a multidisciplinary health professional team, both clerically and clinically.

Hours for this position are 40 hours/week. Position is located onsite at the KMS building in Ann Arbor, MI.

Responsibilities*

  • Review of registry data; identify improvement opportunities in preventive care and chronic disease care (e.g., diabetes, asthma, CVD and CHF).
  • Work provider?s registry or exception report to resolve gaps in care (e.g., lack of follow-up, missing tests, missing action plans, missing immunizations).
  • Contact patients and arrange appropriate testing, referrals, or follow-up; document if test completed elsewhere or declines (e.g., eye exam).
  • Schedule appointments, complete lab orders, consult requests, or provide the patient with an appointment when needed.
  • Enter CPT codes into scheduling system to permit business team?s identification of patient financial liability.  
  • Develop, along with lead or supervisor and scheduler colleagues, standard work. Perform MA Preceptor duties at RAHS. 
  • Continue to function as a Medical Assistant to fulfill the needs of the clinic and other duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications*

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program or an equivalent combination of education and 3-4 years of experience.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant.
  • Experience in panel management including provider registry data and exception reports.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team setting.
  • Communicates effectively.
  • Demonstrates active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills.
  • Requires moderate standing/walking, as well as, lifting, positioning, pushing and/or transferring patients.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience working within a large, complex health care setting.  
  • Familiarity with UMHS electronic medical record systems.
  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
