Summary

  • Provide oversite of daily laboratory operations
     
  • Laboratory ordering (general, animal and special), maintenance of consumables
     
  • Assure laboratory safety by monitoring hazardous waste and subsequent disposal
     
  • Administrative recordkeeping
     
  • Equipment maintenance repair and arrange for servicing when needed
    (microscopes, centrifuges, incubators, hoods, shakers, lighting, etc.)
     
  • Organization of laboratory space to accommodate current needs for students and staff
     
  • Facilitate projects by collecting information, equipment and expertise
     
  • Student (undergraduate, high school and MS) supervision and training

15-20 hours $20 per hour

  • Communication and collaboration with other faculty and core facilities on existing projects
     
  • Collects and analyzes data and writes scientific papers
     
  • Poster and oral presentations at national meetings

Required Qualifications*

BS in a science field and some laboratory experience.         

Desired Qualifications*

Specific Project Skills:

Tissue-engineered construct design and fabrication
Mechanical testing of native and engineered tissues

Broad Technical skills:
 

Tissue harvesting
Tissue culture
Cell culture
Histology: frozen and paraffin embedded
Staining: IHC, ICC, HE, Picro, Alizarin, Antigen Retrieval 
Light and fluorescent microscopy
Mechanical testing of skeletal muscle and tendon tissues
Data analysis 
Photography (macro, micro)
Proficient in Microsoft Office
PRISM for data analysis

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
