Summary

The College of Engineering's Office of the Associate Dean for Graduate and Professional Education (ADGPE) seeks a Graduate Recruitment Coordinator to join the ADGPE Recruitment and Retention team, who will be a key part of the College's graduate student recruitment efforts. We seek someone with excellent people skills and the ability to foster collaboration; who can multitask and handle administrative and program activities with a proactive and adaptable approach. This role reports to the Associate Director of Graduate Recruitment and Retention and works in concert with the Graduate Student Program Coordinator in providing support to students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities*

  • Engage with campus faculty and staff to elicit their ideas, support, and participation in college graduate student recruitment strategies and programs.
  • Execute the graduate student recruitment strategy to attract a diverse applicant base through innovative on- and off-campus recruitment, targeted national recruitment events, outreach programming, and travel. 
    • Coordinate logistical details and represent the college and university at career and graduate school fairs across the nation and region.
    • Deliver informative presentations to highlight and convey the advantages and merits of graduate programs at Michigan Engineering.
    • Coordinate campus recruitment events and activities, including the Explore Michigan Engineering Research & Graduate Education (EMERGE) program.
    • Create and maintain program materials, including invitations, online applications, registration links, schedules, and program-related websites. 
  • Collaborate with the Communications & Marketing team to implement a strategy for reaching out to prospective students, and ensure that student questions are addressed promptly and effectively.
  • Monitor relevant financial accounts and program budgets, provide reports, and handle the processing of payments and reimbursements for travel and expenses associated with recruitment activities.

Other duties will be explored depending on the individual's interest as well as the developing needs of the office.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelors degree & 3+ years of experience in college student services, recruitment, or admissions, preferably at the graduate level.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience facilitating in-person and virtual presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and cultures or underrepresented minority populations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently, as the task requires.
  • Ability to work occasional (2-3 per semester) evening or weekend events. 
  • Ability to travel for work-related functions. Due to the nature of the office's graduate recruitment activities, this position requires travel (domestic and/or international) at least 4 times a year.
  • Ability to move equipment (up to 20 lbs) from one location to another for various needs. 

Desired Qualifications*

  • Master's degree, preferably in higher education, college student personnel, or student affairs.
  • Knowledge of graduate student recruitment techniques.
  • An understanding of the challenges underrepresented and marginalized populations face in higher education.

Work Locations

The Michigan Engineering Office of ADGPE operates in a hybrid work environment consisting of both in-person and remote work. This position will be classified as a FLEX position within the Michigan Engineering STARR classification matrix which means working on campus 3 days per week with an option of working remotely the rest of the week. Additional Information

The salary range for this position is $52,000 - $60,000. A higher salary may be considered for an extraordinarily qualified candidate.
