Summary

A Service Station Attendant (SSA) is tasked with servicing and preparing rental pool vehicles for the next rental assignment. These duties include but are not limited to exterior and interior cleaning, fueling, adding necessary fluids, parking vehicles, coordinating repairs with Fleet and Garage Services staff, maintaining clean and orderly workspaces, and completing associated paperwork.

Responsibilities*

Safely operate vehicles and any equipment in a safe, professional manner always.

Coordinates with Fleet Services Staff on daily work assignments, repairs, and other tasks.

Dispense fuel for the rental pool fleet.

Appropriately park vehicles as required or directed and note parking location on associated paperwork.

Clean the exterior of all vehicles, including operating the automatic vehicle wash as required.

Clean vehicle interiors including all glass, dashboards, seats, floors, walls, and other surfaces as needed.

Maintenance and regular cleaning of fueling & service stations, pumps, storage areas, and other facilities as required.

Inspect and perform minor maintenance/repairs on fueling and service facilities, including replacement of nozzles, hoses, filters and inspect fuel tanks for content level and leaks, and maintain appropriate records.

Maintain daily records of gasoline or other fluids that are dispensed.

Assist with minor or aesthetic repairs when needed.

Depending on the weather, may be tasked with removal of snow and ice from ground or vehicles.

Examine vehicles for damage or missing parts upon vehicle return and notify Fleet Services staff.

Inspect all vehicle fluid levels, such as engine oil, washer solvent, power steering fluid, coolant, etc., and refill as necessary.

Inspect tires for damage, wear, and air pressure.

Maintain a supply of all necessary supplies in vehicle prep areas and other service areas at the Fleet facilities.

Change filters on fuel pumps.

Complete all required paperwork and maintain records of service performed on vehicles.

Adhere to all University/Departmental policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations that apply to the position.

Candidates will be exposed to various weather conditions during their duties, including varying temperatures, snow, rain, ice, wind, sun, etc.

Required Qualifications*

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent

Licensure & Certifications: Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Driver's License. Applicants without a current, valid license will not be considered.

Must have an acceptable and appropriate driving record; No patterns of unsafe behaviors or safety violations; No major safety violations.

Knowledge of or experience with basic vehicle maintenance/mechanics.

Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in cleaning work.

Ability to move and maneuver materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Essential and marginal duties require successful candidates to safely perform the essential duties of the position for up to 8 hours per workday.

Ability to perform all the essential and marginal duties of this position and remain alert and safety-focused at all times.  Commitment to practicing and promoting safety.

Ability to accurately understand and interpret written and printed materials.

Ability to clearly communicate with staff and other entities.

Ability to perform simple math.

Ability to complete all required training.

Ability to work with a diverse workforce and the University Community

Must meet the qualification standards that are job-related and consistent with business necessity and must be able to perform the: essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Desired Qualifications*

Demonstrated responsible work experience of at least one (1) year in a similar field/position.

Advanced knowledge of vehicle maintenance or cleaning experience is preferred.

Work Schedule

Part to full-time: up to 40 Hours per week

Days: Monday - Friday

Hours: 6:30 am until 3:00 pm
