Summary

We are hiring a postdoctoral fellow to join the Michigan COVID-19 Recovery Surveillance Study (MI CReSS), which informs the state of Michigan's response to COVID-19 and Long COVID, with an explicit focus on health equity. The fellow will collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment on the design, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of epidemiologic research on COVID-19 recovery, including Long COVID and the social and economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is a one-year appointment with possibility of extension based on funding and performance.

Responsibilities*

  • Conduct epidemiologic analyses of COVID-19 recovery.
  • Prepare written and oral presentations of epidemiologic research through writing research articles and team presentations.
  • Participate in, and present at, local and national meetings and conferences.
  • Assist with project design and implementation as well as daily management of cohort and community surveys.
  • Assist in acquiring extramural research funding, including with writing technical portions of grant proposals.

Required Qualifications*

  • A doctoral degree in epidemiology, sociology, health behavior, health policy, statistics, or a related field, with strong quantitative skills. 
  • A track record of peer-reviewed publication of scholarly work related to PhD thesis, or in process.  
  • Individual must be highly sensitive to human subjects and confidential data. 
  • Must be capable of a high level of independent work and have the demonstrated ability to manage large research projects.
  • Strong proficiency in Stata (preferred), SAS, and/or R, and demonstrated aptitude for learning new software.   
  • Solid knowledge of research principles, and commitment to responsible conduct of research and ethics. 
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey technical information to a multidisciplinary team. 
  • Must possess a strong organizational skill-set with an emphasis on attention to detail and accuracy.   
  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple projects simultaneously. 

Desired Qualifications*

It is strongly desirable for the applicant to have experience conducting advanced statistical analyses, including multilevel data structures and complex survey design. It is also desirable for the applicant to have interest and expertise in the field of structural racism, including applications in birth outcomes, cardiovascular disease, and/or COVID-19 recovery research.
