Responsibilities*

  • Ensure efficient patient flow
  • Provide clinical assistance taking/recording vitals
  • Review of patient's medications and allergies
  • Prepare medication for administration
  • Assist physician with medication administration as needed
  • Maintain, order, and stock supplies in exam rooms and clinic
  • Ensure appropriate infection control protocol is followed in clinical areas
  • Initiate and follow up on Medication Prior Authorizations; including specialty pharmacy requests
  • Assist with telephone triage and clerical tasks
  • Actively involved in improving day-to-day operational processes and workflows
  • Assist with other duties as assigned

The Pediatric Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Medical Assistant Intermediate to join our team. Work in a fun, fast paced environment managing patient flow while providing excellent customer service.

Required Qualifications*

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Graduated for an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent combination of education and
  • 0-1 years of experience for an Assistant level
  • 1-3 years of experience for an Associate level
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Moderate standing/walking, as well as, lifting, positioning, pushing and/or pulling patients.
  • Successful outcomes working in a high volume, fast paces clinic setting both independently, and as part of a team.
  • Ability to accurately receive and relay information over the telephone and written documentation to patients and providers; communicates effectively.
  • Demonstrates active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a team setting.
  • Demonstrated abilities to efficiently manage time and prioritize multiple tasks.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or (RMA)
  • Experience within an ambulatory setting
  • Familiarity with electan ronic medical record system
  • Demonstrated effective time managmanagements and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Experience working with pediatric patients

Tues/Wed/Thurs, 20hrs/week

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
