Summary

Must be eligible for Work Study Summer 2024. This is a position with an off campus agency. The Summer Program Monitor will support the off campus agency by working with program coordinators who are responsible for the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) under the leadership of the program manager. This role acts as a liaison between the off campus agency and its sponsored program sites. The Summer Program Monitor is also responsible for reviewing their assigned sites adherence to USDA, MDE and off campus agency's policies and procedures.

Responsibilities*

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure open communication between the off campus agency and their Summer Food Service sites.
  • Conduct and coordinate site reviews for 10-25 off campus agency sponsored sites.
  • Collect paperwork daily/weekly from assigned sites.
  • Ensure each site is civil rights compliant.
  • Operate program under safe food handling guidelines and regulations.
  • Collaborate with sites to order proper number of meals each day.
  • Assisting with filing and program auditing.
  • Conduct fun activities for the children along assigned mobile route each Friday as well as assist with nutrition bag distribution.
  • Deliver food to sites when necessary.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

Ability to work with diverse populations. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and proof of insurance as this role is predominantly offsite. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; the ability to support data collection and reporting. High level of organization and attention to detail. Self-motivated and ability to multitask. Ability to pass a comprehensive background check. Available hours Monday through Thursday 9:00am-2:30pm, Fridays 9:30am -3:30pm

Desired Qualifications*

Students pursuing degrees in Education, Communications, Public Health, Social Work or Child Development may find this role most beneficial, but all will be considered. Culinary/Food Service experience would be advantageous. Experience with children and/or school groups preferred.
