The target salary range for this position is $70,000-85,000. 

Who Are We?

 The School of Dentistry (SoD) Dental Informatics IT department has an exciting opportunity for an INTERMEDIATE DATA ANALYST. You will be responsible for managing and creating Tableau dashboards, assisting in the development of data pipelines, and enhancing our analytics services.

Our organization supports faculty, staff, and students to further SoD's mission areas of teaching and learning, research, healthcare, and administration. We operate numerous health clinics, classrooms, research labs, conference rooms, and a museum, allowing us to support a diverse IT ecosystem. Dental Informatics prioritizes employee development through project opportunities, cross-unit collaboration, and the university's professional development catalog.

What You'll Do as an Intermediate Data Analyst

  • You will consult with clinics, academic departments, and research areas to analyze requests and define business requirements.
  • You will have a hand in furthering data automation and developing analysis.
  • You will prepare various data products, visualizations, and reports for various customers, such as researchers, faculty leadership, clinical directors, and finance colleagues.
  • You will learn about Tableau, SQL, and Python
  • You will collaborate with other data analysts, developers, and the larger Dental Informatics team
  • You will work closely with other units on campus to leverage University-wide tools and services (e.g. Business Intelligence Community of Practice) as well as national networks (e.g. Healthcare Data and Analytics Association)
  • You will also leverage industry-leading practices to improve the functionality, reproducibility, and overall value of our data. Examples include machine learning and natural language processing.
  • You will have a combination of on-campus responsibilities and remote work opportunities.
  • You will report to the Assistant Director of Data Analytics and Development.

Required Qualifications for Intermediate Data Analyst

  • BA or BS in quantitative field
  • 3 to 5 years of experience
  • Familiarity with and experience building Tableau dashboards
  • Experience with creating charts, graphs, and reports and working with users to improve understanding
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience with a variety of databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostGreSQL)
  • Demonstrated ability to apply new or different ways of thinking to creatively solve problems

Additional Information:

Our organization mainly operates between 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. While we do have clinics that operate from 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM during the week, we support these crucial business functions as needed. May require occasional work during non-business hours and on weekends. Your Primary working location will be within a set area within the School of Dentistry with the ability for a hybrid schedule. The School of Dentistry comprises multiple clinics and administrative locations in Ann Arbor. On occasion, you may be required to travel to those locations.
