Responsibilities*

  • Provide responsible and complex administrative and secretarial support to the Associate Chair for Educational Programs in support of all educational programs with a particular emphasis on fellowship programs.
  • Provide support to the Associate Chair for Educational Programs including maintaining electronic calendars, professional preparation of all types of correspondence, travel and conference arrangements, committee scheduling/staffing, etc.
  • Provide support to the Department's fellowship directors including maintaining electronic calendars, professional preparation of all types of correspondence, travel and conference arrangements, committee scheduling/staffing, etc.
  • Provide program support to the Department's non-ACGME fellowships including recruitment, appointment, licensing/certification, onboarding, rotation and conference scheduling and management of evaluations.
  • Provide administrative and program support to Department faculty members who have specific medical school educational responsibilities.
  • Assist the Department's Continuing Medical Education team when needed to support educational activities including on-site staffing at annual courses.

Required Qualifications*

  • High school diploma including course work in business, accounting or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five to seven years of secretarial experience.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of sophisticated information storage and retrieval systems.
  • Reasonable knowledge of University policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Ability to type 60 to 80 wpm with accuracy.
  • Considerable knowledge of the operation and application of automated office text and data processing systems and procedures is desirable and may be necessary in certain positions.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer focus and an ability to interact with a wide variety of individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and remain flexible during ever-changing daily activities.
  • Expansive knowledge of Microsoft Office with emphasis on Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
