Job Summary

We are looking to hire one or two undergraduate research assistants for the Grixdale Farms Inclusive Community Health Project.  This involves working collaboratively with UM-Dearborn faculty, the Grixdale Farms Neighborhood Organization, Hitha Healing House and Detroit community residents to organize and facilitate focus groups focused on addressing neighborhood social, economic and environmental conditions and community health challenges.   Meetings with partners and faculty will take place in community locations and at the UM-Detroit Center.

Required Qualifications*

  • Knowledge or interest in the intersection of urban sociology and community health.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Skills or interest in gaining skills in community-based participatory research, qualitative data analysis, and communicating research findings in reports and publications, and grant writing.
  • Ability to work on a diverse research team, interact with community members, organize and facilitate community meetings and focus groups. 
  • Reliable transportation to and from the City of Detroit.
  • Undergraduate
