Job Summary

Under general direction of faculty and senior research personnel and as part of a large program team, this individual will participate in the development, design, and conduct of several research and improvement projects focused on the equitable care of children. This individual will also formulate research methods and suggest options for improving quality, oversee data collection efforts both internally and at external sites, as well as review project progress and evaluate results. 

Responsibilities*

  • Participate in the development, design, and implementation of pediatric equity research and quality improvement projects, review progress toward deliverables and evaluate results.
  • Participate in the formulation of research methods and quality improvement protocols for health system environments
  • Monitor and participate in data collection and verification involving administrative claims, electronic medical record, and survey data for internal and for external project partners
  • Prepare materials for presentation/present at meetings and conferences; draft research summaries, reports, manuscripts and other research related materials such as grant proposals.

Required Qualifications*

  • Master's degree in a healthcare-related field
  • 5 to 6 years related healthcare experience
  • Experience working with administrative claims and electronic medical record data 
  • Willingness to work onsite 3-4 days per week 
  • Highly organized, attentive to detail, reliable and self-directed. Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal/written communication skills 
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team on multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Desired Qualifications*

  • Professional/Doctorate degree
  • 10 years of related healthcare experience

Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.

This is a 6-to-12-month term-limited appointment.  At the end of the stated term, your appointment will terminate, and will not be eligible for Reduction-in-Force (RIF) benefits. This term-limited appointment does not create a contract or guarantee of employment for any period of time as you will remain subject to disciplinary or other performance measures, up to and including termination, at the will of the University in accordance with existing University policy and standards for employee performance and conduct.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
