Who We Are

Health Information Technology & Services (HITS) plays an integral role in the success of Michigan Medicine by providing clinicians, educators, researchers, students, and staff with exceptional technology-related information, products, services, and support. 

The HITS Clinical & Revenue Cycle IT (CRC) division is responsible for more than 350 clinical and revenue cycle applications that clinicians, staff, and patients rely upon every day. The CRC team has subdivisions that support inpatient, ambulatory, departmental, and revenue cycle areas across Michigan Medicine (MM). CRC also oversees many of the major IT platforms and applications such as the electronic health record, virtual care, pharmacy, radiology, radiation oncology, registration, document management, billing, and much more. The CRC team is highly relied upon across the healthcare system and collaborates with operational partners to provide excellent service to the MM staff. Staff within CRC often interact with customers on a regular basis by implementing and configuring workflows, enhancements, optimizations, and new modules or software while also ensuring adequate change control and testing processes occur. Team members work on a vast array of projects that propel MM into the future. 

Job Summary

HITS is looking for a Business Systems Analyst to support the HITS MiChart Radiant/Cupid Team. Primary responsibilities include implementing Epic Lumens in medical procedure areas, as well as the support and maintenance of Radiant/Cupid applications. The Application Coordinator is the primary support contact for the application. As a Radiant/Cupid analyst, you will work with clients to translate radiology and cardiology workflows to Epic functionality and provide mutually agreeable solutions to close workflow gaps. Analysts provide support to clinical users by adapting Epic's application/software to meet their needs through knowledge processes, documentation needs, workflows, and practice standards.

Responsibilities*

The Business System Analyst is responsible for the following tasks:

  • Coordinate and perform analysis, design development, testing validation and implementation of EMR modules used by clinical staff performing and documenting patient procedures, leveraging system functionality to support clinical process and organizational goals.
  • Address issues that arise for application areas with understanding of the organization's policies, procedures, quality standards, and business operations.
  • With support, create and define system scope and goals through research and fact-finding to develop complex information systems.
  • Prioritize and implement requested changes to the system.
  • Coordinate, review and test each new release.
  • Communicate with Epic representatives.
  • Participate in training and work with end-users. 
  • Troubleshoot problems and questions from end-users.
  • Work with report writers to ensure that each application has the necessary reports.

Required Qualifications*

Requirements for Senior level:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years experience

Requirements for Intermediate level:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2-3 years experience

Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience and certification in multiple Epic applications, particularly: Radiant, Cupid, Lumens, Optime, EpicCare Inpatient Orders, EpicCare Ambulatory.
  • Experience implementing Lumens. 
  • Experience with PACS/Epic integrations
  • Certified radiologic technologist, nuclear medicine technologist, or sonography. 
  • Knowledge of Michigan Medicine organization, particularly radiology, cardiology, or endoscopy procedures.
  • Project management experience
  • Ability to develop requirements, create scope documents, and standardize operating procedures.
  • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of communication/collaboration tools, including spreadsheets, presentation, and word processing software.
  • Understanding of LEAN principals.
  • Ability to work as part of a team to support multiple clinical and administrative user groups.
  • Share in rotating on call responsibility, including evenings and weekends.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform business/workflow analysis, document requirements, create scope documents, and standardize operating procedures.
  • Ability to facilitate the investigation and resolution of development and project issues.
