Job Summary
The position is within the Department of Internal Medicine/Cardiology, working with Dr. Garcia-Barrios team within the Vascular Defense and Development lab headed by Dr. D. Pinsky. The individual will contribute to generating new, high-quality data for publications and grants, while providing support for the lab logistics, within a highly diverse environment.

Responsibilities*
- Perform cellular and molecular biology experiments (including implementing protocols and troubleshooting); data collection, analysis and interpretation.
- Preparation of corresponding figures/reports, working closely with the PI and the postdoctoral fellow.
- Assist in preparation of posters, publications and grants.
- Literature search for development of new protocols.
- Perform basic laboratory maintenance logistics (ordering, inventory, supplies monitoring, etc.).
- Genotyping and colony maintenance.
- On boarding and orientation of students in the lab.
- Attending lab meetings and unit meetings, including presenting their work.
- Attend CVC meetings, when required or relevant to the work at hand.
Required Qualifications*
- 1-2 years experience in research.
- Bachelor of Science with knowledge of biochemistry and biology.
- Prior experience working in small teams, including trainees, since the applicant will assist the PI and a postdoctoral fellow while supervising new students as they join the lab.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Experience in oral presentation of results to diverse audiences - each member of the team presents in lab and unit meetings.
- Ability to independently perform basic molecular and cellular biology techniques in the lab, including, qPCR, RNA isolation, plasmid purification, cell culture -maintenance and treatment of cells; collection of samples).
- PCR for genotyping and colony maintenance.
- Autonomy in analysis and interpretation of data.
- Assist in preparation of posters, publications and grants. Implementation, troubleshooting, and development of protocols through literature search.
- Basic lab management skills, including coordinating lab resources and inventories.
Desired Qualifications*
- Knowledge or willingness to learn new, state of the art approaches for ?big data? collection and analysis.
Work Locations
This is a full-time position with the expectation of completing 40h/week on site at the MSRB3 building.

Background Screening
