Job Summary
The Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design is seeking a motivated and skilled individual to join the Stamps Gallery?s team as an Installation Assistant. This is a temporary, part-time position. The Installation Assistant will work on gallery preparation and exhibition installation, observing best practices for art handling and installation. Work occurs in-person at Stamps Gallery in Ann Arbor, MI and is scheduled during exhibition changeover periods which run two to six weeks throughout the year. The Installation Assistant will report to the Exhibition Coordinator/Preparator, and Stamps Gallery Director.

Responsibilities*
- Prepare art objects for display
- Install and deinstall art objects and exhibition elements
- Pack, and unpack art for storage, transportation, and gallery/exhibitions
- Assist with transportation and storage of artwork
- Prepare, install and de-install objects of all media types (2D, 3D, new media, and installations).
- Install digital, and tech-intensive multimedia art works and troubleshoot technical issues
- Fabricate and construct mounts and conduct minor cleaning
Required Qualifications*
- 1+ years of experience handling artwork in a variety of media from delicate works on paper to large-scale sculptures
- Demonstrated knowledge of techniques used in exhibition preparation
- Ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and exhibition design plan
- Working knowledge of small tools, carpentry and woodworking, and basic construction
- Experience painting and preparing walls for painting
- Ability to regularly move 30+ lbs
- Ability to climb ladders, work at height, and work overhead
