Job Summary
Michigan Medicine Finance is seeking a financial analyst to join the Clinical Financial Planning and Analysis (CFPA) team. The Clinical Financial Planning and Analysis team plays a key role in helping leadership make data-driven strategic decisions by evaluating strategic, operational, and financial aspects of the clinical enterprise. The primary customers for this role include University of Michigan Health (UMH) financial and operational leaders, as well as the individual departments within UMH.

Responsibilities*
- Partner with finance and operational leaders to provide financial analysis support including budget development, proforma modeling, business planning, costing, performance measurement, variance analysis, and monthly reporting.
- Design, develop and recommend new approaches to management reporting and operational decision making.
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams evaluating strategic, operational, and financial aspects of the clinical enterprise
- Perform business case analysis, including the creation of financial models and analysis of business trends to support growth opportunities
- Participate in special projects to improve reporting, analysis, and internal processes to achieve productivity improvements and customer service delivery
- Prepare and communicate monthly financial and operational reports/results to departments and stakeholders
Required Qualifications*
In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.
- A Bachelor?s degree or higher, preferably in Business, Economics, Finance, Health Administration, or a related field
- Senior: 5-8 years of professional experience
- Intermediate: 2-5 years of professional experience
- A high degree of finance and accounting acumen, problem-solving skills, and the ability to provide meaningful analysis of financial statements and other datasets.
- Familiarity with financial systems, relational databases, and enterprise resource planning tools
- Ability to assess competing priorities, manage workflow and meet operational deadlines
- A natural curiosity and a drive to learn
Desired Qualifications*

- PeopleSoft / Oracle / Hyperion experience
- Experience with database query tools (SQL, Access, Tableau)
- Strong communication skills - both oral and written. Ability to analyze large amounts of complex information to present simple and concise material to the appropriate audience
- Experience in a healthcare, higher education and/or academic medical center setting desired.
