Responsibilities*

  • You will conduct ELISA-based protein quantification and molecular assays including PCR, real-time, PCR, and Western blotting and Cell culture.
  • You will isolate DNA, RNA, proteins, or single cell suspensions from patient samples (fresh, frozen or fixed tissue samples, urine and blood samples).
  • Under the direction of the lab director, you and your team will maintain detailed and accurate records of experiments and inventory of materials, analyze data for publication, and participate in manuscript preparation.
  • You and your team will perform sample tracking and QC/QA procedures.
  • You will participate in the daily operation of the Molecular Target Evaluation and Biomarker Core lab through the design and conduct of research projects, including optimizing research protocols, suggesting options for improving quality, and recommending solutions.
  • You will help manage the maintenance and daily operation of the lab equipment.
  • You should demonstrate the conducive ability to work with others in a collaborative interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Able to work independently and/or under supervision. 
  • Other tasks and job responsibilities as requested for fulfilling the teams overall success and progress.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in biology or related field.
  • Minimal 1/2+ years related experience in molecular based analysis of complex animal and/or human disease mechanisms.
  • Minimal 1/2+ years related experience in working in a collaborative (team based) and medium to large laboratory environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and challenge accepting and responsive in nature.
  • 1-2+ years of experience in MS office.

Desired Qualifications*

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree.
  • Experience in molecular assays as listed in job responsibilities.
  • Experience with molecular analysis of renal disease (IHC, IF, molecular cloning).
  • Experience handling material from animal and/or human subjects.
  • Ability to cooperate with the team members as and when required and directed. 
  • Good computer skills with any statistical tool knowledge.

Work Schedule

  • Monday- Friday, 8 hour per day
  • Weekends sometimes required for certain experiments

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
