Responsibilities*
The selected candidate will act as the Medical Assistant Senior and will serve as a positive role model and mentor for all staff. Your duties will require you to act as a change agent who promotes process improvement and sharing of best practices with all staff. Help to build a culture that promotes teamwork, open, honest communication and collaboration with all customers; internal and external. Coach and support staff to promote improvement and positive performance. This individual will approve time off as well as maintain the Medical Assistant schedule. They will assist with yearly Medical Assistant evaluations, coordinating staff training and development to ensure mandatories are kept current and completed on time.
Acts as an integral member of the leadership team. Seek and foster constructive approaches to resolving workplace conflicts and issues. Promotes and recognizes the contribution of others. Understand and follows through with delegated responsibilities in a positive manner. Assist in following up on disciplinary measure and guidelines with Health Center Manager. Capitalize on and utilize Medical Assistant staff to their fullest potential.
Required Qualifications*
- High school diploma or GED
- Graduation from a medical assistant program or an equivalent combination of education and experience (5+ years) is necessary
- Experience working as a team lead is necessary
- Knowledge of medical terminology is necessary
- Individual must exhibit a professional and positive image when interacting with patients, faculty and staff.
- Adhere to a high standard of personal and professional conduct; possess excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills; and demonstrate ability to interact with a diverse population.
- Demonstrated ability to perform all duties required of a Medical Assistant.
- Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in clinic and patient care activities.
- Experience in an outpatient setting for 3-5 years as a Medical Assistant.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
- Must have good attendance record.

Work Schedule
This position is 40 hours/week, Monday - Saturday. Must be available and flexible with schedule for Saturday and evening rotation if needed

Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.
