Job Summary

Kresge Hearing Research Institute is seeking a Research Associate with proven expertise in electrophysiology, biological imaging, and artificial intelligence (AI) system development. The selected candidate will have hands-on experience with electrophysiology and imaging software, data analysis, and the integration of advanced AI techniques into neurophysiological research. Familiarity with animal research is required. This role requires technical proficiency, problem-solving skills, and dedication to supporting cutting-edge research projects. Experience working in a neurosciences lab applying the required skills and capabilities is required. 

Responsibilities*

  • Assist in the setup, maintenance, and operation of electrophysiology equipment and associated systems.
  • Develop and maintain electrophysiology and imaging data analysis program.
  • Utilize programming languages such as Python, Linux, and Matlab to manage and process electrophysiology and imaging data.
  • Establish and optimize AI systems for applications in neurophysiological research (Electrophysiology and imagining data analysis).
  • Collaborate with the research team to advance lab initiatives and ensure efficient system operations.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in electronic Materials Engineering 
  • 5+ years experience in electrophysiology setup (hardware and software installation and operation), equipment maintenance, and system operations.   
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in data analysis for electrophysiology (in vivo and ex vivo recordings) and imaging labs, including 2-photon imaging, electron microscopy, and confocal imaging
  • 5+ years experience in programming languages including specifically Python, Linux, and Matlab; experience applying 
  • Demonstrated analytical skills for resolving complex technical issues and managing large datasets.
  • Experience with AI-based approaches for neurophysiological and imaging data analysis imaging.
  • At least 3-5 years experience working with animal models in a neurosciences lab 

Desired Qualifications*

  • + 5 years working in a Research Laboratory.

Background Screening
