Job Summary
The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Research Area Specialist-Intermediate to serve as a research facilitator to support two multi-site research project focusing on suicide prevention. One is a 4-year NIH-funded study examining the signs of suicidal risk which takes place at the adult inpatient psychiatric settings at Michigan Medicine's University Hospital. The other is a 5-year VA-funded longitudinal clinical trial which takes place at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor. This study will use of an interventional app for Veterans who are experiencing a suicidal crisis.

Responsibilities*
- Research facilitator for (2) multi-site NIH & VA funded suicide prevention and suicide intervention studies which includes but not limited to maintaining communication and coordination between sites.
- Assist with participant recruitment and consenting
- Conduct structured and semi-structured study interviews and assessments, in person on an inpatient psychiatric hospital setting.
- Conduct medical chart review and data abstractions.
- Functional supervision/oversight of volunteers, students or temporary employees.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's Degree is required
- 4 Years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Desired Qualifications*
- Master's degree in Public Health (MPH), Social Work (MSW), Doctoral Degree or other management-related field (e.g., health administration) with experience working on a research study.
- Clinical and/or research experience with patients who have had recent suicidal thoughts and/or attempts
- Experience conducting clinical research interviews & assessments
- Comfort discussing sensitive topics with vulnerable populations
- Experience working in emergency departments and/or psychiatric inpatient units
- Ability to work independently with minimum direction and seek guidance when appropriate
Work Schedule
Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week; occasional weekends as participant enrollment dictates.

Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings.
