Job Summary

The University of Michigan-Dearborn, College of Education, Health, and Human Services (CEHHS) has an exciting part-time temporary opportunity available for a current UM-Dearborn student who is work-study eligible with great initiative, flexibility, dependability, and professionalism to work as an Office Assistant. CEHHS is a collaborative, diverse, and inclusive team environment where we learn and grow together.  

Responsibilities*

  • Assist with basic and general administrative functions of the office
  • Provide administrative support to Dean's Suite team and CEHHS team
  • Maintain a welcoming office environment, greet all visitors with a pleasant and professional demeanor and assist visitors in locating campus resources and services
  • Answer and direct all incoming calls and email inquiries to the appropriate department and personnel
  • Assist with departmental and college-wide special events
  • Prepare and distribute incoming and outgoing mail, maintain copy machines, files, and correspondence
  • Assist with special projects
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications*

*Must be a current University of Michigan-Dearborn student and work-study eligible*

  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including enthusiasm for work and have demonstrated initiative and follow-up skills 
  • A proven ability to interact with others in a friendly, open and accepting manner
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to creatively and independently problem solve
  • Ability to research various mediums for information
  • Must be able to handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Occasional evening work hours for special events

Desired Qualifications*

  • Some office experience preferred
  • Demonstrated computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Accurate data entry, typing, and proofreading skills
