Responsibilities*

  • Oversees credentialing and re-credentialing of Physician Assistants in Adult & Children's Emergency Services
  • Serve as resource to administrative specialists, managers, directors and supervisors for posting positions, payroll, supply orders, computer access
  • Support monthly payroll for Physician Assistants and review GPR?s for accuracy.
  • Analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action for employee equity reviews, reclass and promotion
  • Drive all aspects of physician assistant (PA) advertising, posting, interviewing, hiring, credentialing, performance evaluation and CME in collaboration with PA Faculty Advisor, Lead Physician Assistant and Director of Operations
  • Create monthly staffing schedule for 50 PAs ensuring appropriate and efficient staffing across two emergency departments - Adult Emergency Services and Children's Emergency Services
  • Create Emergency Critical Care Center (EC3) schedule, overseeing assignments between Fellows, and Residents from multiple services and ED Physician Assistants to ensure adequate rotation to EC3 while meeting all resident duty hour requirements. Ensure EC3 training for new physician assistants, residents and fellows.
  • Ensure PA compliance with mandatory programs utilizing iPrivileges, Cornerstone and other reporting tools. Prepare Emergency Department Quality Assurance and credentialing reports
  • Apply critical thinking process and exercises independent judgment for decision-making when issues are identified and implements appropriate corrective action
  • Support high-level departmental teams and meetings as needed, including scheduling, communication and ensuring that minutes are accurate. Develop and maintain required documentation for meetings and general administrative project documents for follow up and action
  • Manage, track, prioritize and respond to project or administrative support requests from multiple project teams

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Direct supervision is received from the ED Director of Operations, with oversight or reporting relationships to the ED Advanced Practice Provider Manager

Required Qualifications*

  • Four or more years of progressively complex administrative experience 
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers and software including Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) as well as experience with database management and entry
  • Excellent communication skills, strong facilitative interpersonal skills, and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects and produce high-quality work in a timely, accurate and efficient manner
  • Experience in handling items of a confidential nature
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently as well as in a team environment

Desired Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in Business/Healthcare Administration
  • Experience with payroll
  • Experience with HR/personnel transactions
  • Experience creating shift schedules, managing paid time off, availability and shift trade requests
  • Knowledge of Michigan Medicine policies and procedures
  • Experience using MPathways (Peoplesoft)
  • Experience with ShiftAdmin
  • Experience with credentialing

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
