Job Summary

The Department of Internal Medicine is seeking a Faculty Earnings Specialist to play a key role in managing faculty compensation, payroll processes, and financial reporting. This is a great opportunity to leverage your analytical expertise and attention to detail while working with a highly collaborative team that values diverse perspectives and inclusive problem-solving.

As a Faculty Earnings Specialist, you will partner with another specialist to manage compensation activities for faculty across thirteen sub-specialty divisions. You'll work closely with the finance team, payroll, and departmental leadership to ensure faculty salaries, effort allocations, and incentive programs are accurately tracked and processed. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to drive process improvements and contribute to financial reporting initiatives.

Responsibilities*

  • Work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate payroll reconciliation, track deferred compensation, and support faculty merit/incentive programs.
  • Monitor and report on faculty salaries, including total effort and salary changes, split/joint appointments, and VA salary adjustments.
  • Process and approve faculty compensation Personnel Action Requests (PARs) in Wolverine Access to ensure payroll accuracy.
  • Act as a primary contact for University Payroll, managing faculty recruitment advertising placement and payment processing.
  • Collaborate with Internal Medicine Business Process Consultants to streamline faculty data and compensation reporting.
  • Support process innovation and continuous improvement efforts within faculty affairs.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
  • 4-5 years of professional experience in finance, compensation, payroll, or related functions.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet and database software.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively, coordinate multiple projects, and self-motivate.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience managing faculty compensation in an academic or healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with University of Michigan systems, especially Wolverine Access.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week), 100% remote.

Background Screening
