Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled, self-motivated individual to serve on clinical and health services projects in Ophthalmology. The assistant will gain experience working on health equity research, data sources, and EHR. The student will also be part of a large clinical study research team.

Responsibilities*

The Kellogg Eye Center is looking for a Research Assistant that will help with a broad range of
federally funded research work including:

  • Collect and organize data from the electronic medical record
  • collect and organize data for REDCap and online databases
  • Work with precision on images for a research study
  • Troubleshoot image quality concerns weekly with the research team
  • Learn about eHealth research
  • Conduct literature searches for the research team

Required Qualifications*

  • HS Diploma or Assoc Degree
  • Collaborative and collegial, demonstrates integrity

  • Excellent patient customer service
  • Able to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adhere to strict confidentiality policies
  • Previous work experience
     

Desired Qualifications*

  • Electronic medical record experience
  • Experience in conducting clinical research
  • Experience working with patients in a clinical care environment
  • Knowledge of research protocols and methodologies

The ideal candidate will show personal initiative in managing work assignments by organizing, prioritizing work in coordination with the PI, and completing tasks on deadlines. The candidate must be able to work independently, work and communicate with the larger team, and regularly exercise judgment in the application research protocols. This position requires strong interpersonal skills - a person who is approachable and compassionate and has the ability to think on one's feet in sensitive or difficult situations. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail is required.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
