Job Summary
This position will support our Children's and Women's Hospitals Executive Triad and report to the Associate Chief Operating Officer for our Children's and Women's Hospitals. The role serves as a Strategic Advisor.
Responsible for work that is complex and varied in nature related to systems process analysis, design, and simulation. Requires highest level understanding of organization's business systems and industry requirements. Focus is on process analysis and re-engineering, with an understanding of technical problems and solutions as they relate to the current and future business environment. Creates process change by integrating new processes with existing ones and communicating these changes to impacted Business Systems teams. Recommends and facilitates quality improvement efforts. May provide guidance/training to more junior staff. May lead re-engineering team and act as project manager in some cases. Defines and discerns key aspects of a problem and develops an integrated solution within a broad technical and business context of significant impact. Employees in this classification typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision-making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree.

Responsibilities*
Children's and Women's Hospital Strategic Advisor
- He/she will lead, direct, evaluate, and develop project managers in conjunction with the Administrative Director to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to project specifications. Management duties for direct reports include interviewing, selecting, training, and evaluating employees; planning and directing their work; assessing their productivity and efficiency for the purpose of recommending promotions or other changes in their status.
- Manages programs and/or projects to enhance entity operations. Plans, implements, and evaluates specific projects designed to enhance entity effectiveness. Participates in the design, implementation, and evaluation of defined programs to promote attainment of entity goals.
- High-level administrative coordination and facilitation of strategic initiatives within the Children's and Women's Hospitals. Maintains relationships and collaborates closely with leaders across the institution to advance CW initiatives. Provide leadership, consultation, advisement to the Associate Chief Operating Officer regarding organizational alignment strategies, communication and change management strategies and integration of systems management structure through to execution. This pivotal liaison role reports directly to the ACOO and is responsible for the administrative, financial, and operational activities related to the strategic initiatives of the Executive Triad, ensuring effective use of time and resources as well as the management of strategic initiatives, programs, and projects. This individual will collaborate with leaders from UH/CVC, and UMMG to build and maintain positive relationships and to ensure strategic initiatives and operations are connected and integrated.
- Directs CW Executive, Operations, and other strategic committees based on the needs of the operations and ensures sufficient professional staffing. Works with leadership to create follow-up actions and documentation of all committee issues and concerns.
- Assists the Executive Team with strategic planning process including retreats, including developing and implementing the resulting short- and long-term strategies, policies, procedures, practices, and programs.
- Orchestrates staff professional development. Prepares and/or analyzes proposals on complex topics, making recommendations, action plans and implementing as appropriate.
- Synthesizes large quantities of data and information to create succinct communications to influence decision-making and inform broad audiences.
- Works with CW leadership and others to identify and recommend fiscal, material, and human resource requirements for specific project/programs.

Required Qualifications*
- Requirements for both levels
- Master's degree in health services administration, healthcare, business administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Progressive leadership experience in healthcare with experience in understanding hospital-based inpatient clinical work and workflows.
- Demonstrated leadership in project management and continuous improvement strategies.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, as demonstrated by the ability to work effectively with administrative partners, faculty, staff and individuals, and/or teams, across disciplines and the organization.
- Ability to prioritize and negotiate priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse, interdisciplinary teams, and represent the Executive Director's Office as required to a wide range of external and internal parties.
- Advanced skills in computer software applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are necessary.
- A high degree of creativity, initiative, and resourcefulness.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, writing, and proofreading skills to facilitate and expedite communication.
- Business Process Consultant Senior Requirement
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare with experience in understanding clinical work and workflows.
- Business Process Consultant Lead Requirement
- A minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare with experience in understanding clinical work and workflows.
Desired Qualifications*
- Knowledge of Michigan Medicine’s systems, policies and procedures
- Familiarity with Michigan Medicine, University of Michigan Medical School and University of Michigan Medical Group principles, procedures, policies and standards
