Responsibilities*

  • Assist Physical Therapists and Assistants in the administration of supervised exercise programs for outpatient clients. 
  • Support Physical Therapists and Assistants during two-person techniques and assist with the application of various therapeutic modalities. 
  • Patient assistance to/from the clinic to/from the parking garage.
  • Clerical tasks, appointment scheduling, equipment maintenance, clinic cleanliness, and inventory stock.

Required Qualifications*

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to understand and communicate information in both verbal and written format.
  • Competency in basic computer skills 
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to complete regular tasks.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of therapists and patients with different impairments.
  • Mechanical aptitude for adjusting and setting up equipment.
  • Ability to multi-task, anticipate needs, and attend to detail is very important.

Work Schedule

This position is full-time (40 hours) per week at University Hospital Outpatient Physical Therapy. Clinic hours are Monday through Friday 7am-5:30pm. Work hours to be determined.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
