Job Summary
The CLCS Communications Coordinator helps lead the center's communication strategies and maintains all of its external communications. These communications include physical, electronic, and social media communication. The job also includes helping maintain the center's databases, which interfaces with our communication systems.
Who We Are
The Center for Labor & Community Studies (CLCS) provides high quality training to workers and labor leaders through annual conferences, six-week certificate courses and symposiums with a focus on effective advocacy, negotiating, organizing, and leadership development. We believe that working people engaged on the front lines bring a wealth of knowledge to the table. Thus, all of our training design is guided by planning committees made up of labor and community activists.
Responsibilities*
Communications
- Manage and promote the Center's website
- Maintain and promote the Center's Facebook page and other social media
- With input from other staff, create conference flyers and other promotional materials
- Maintain and use Center's mass email system and database
- Proofread and edit external communications
- Help with outreach to labor leaders and local unions
Administration
- Assist lead administrator with registration system, venue arrangements, and conference material preparations during peak activity periods and as needed
Labor Educator
- Able to teach communication skills with opportunities to teach more based on interests and skills
- Assists with conference planning meeting and zoom applications when meetings are hybrid
Required Qualifications*
- A bachelor degree or equivalent plus 2-3 years related experience
- Experience in graphic design, communications, database management
- Experience in managing the planning, design, and development of online programming
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong record of and commitment to adult education instruction and workers' rights
- Experience working closely with labor, business and community organizations
- Excellent writing skills
Work Schedule
This is an in-person position with the option of 1-2 days of remote work when scheduling allows
