Job Summary
The Cardiovascular Research Network (CRN) is core architecture focused on the Basic and Translational Research initiatives in the Frankel Cardiovascular Center (FCVC). Encompassing everything from communication strategy to weekly, bi-annual, and annual events, shared resource management, and FCVC internal funding portfolio advisement. This role serves as a critical leadership partner for the research arm of the Frankel CVC Administration team and will oversee financial activity, research human resources, strategy development, and initiative implementation for the network.
In addition, this role will be responsible for other strategic priorities in the Basic and Translational Research and Education arm of the Frankel Cardiovascular Center (FCVC). This includes management of the FCVC & Physiology Phenotyping Core, the Michigan-Israel Partnership (MIP), the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF), and other Educational and Research Community Strategic Priorities.

Responsibilities*
Cardiovascular Research Network (CRN) (40%):
- Lead and manage administrative implementation effort for the CRN program. This includes the development and implementation of strategic initiatives, budget management and reporting, integration of CRN into existing resources and programs, and routine programmatic analysis, evaluation, and reporting.
- Oversee all FCVC research internal funding program activity, including all strategy for communication, application deadlines, reviews and processing, reconciliation and organization of external review committees as needed, coordinating submissions to present for FCVC Directors, processing of final award notices, and tracking and reporting on all outstanding grants.
- Oversee demand and procurement of shared scientific equipment for Cardiovascular Research Center researchers. Establish guidelines and financial model for use of shared equipment by other NCRC researchers.
FCVC Administration Leadership (20%):
- Serve as a co-lead, for the Center, on bridge efforts to form and grow direct connections with Departmental leadership (Chairs/Chiefs/Administrators).
- Identify opportunities and lead efforts to refine and standardize ongoing FCVC activities. Serve as a member of the Frankel CVC administration leadership team, providing guidance and leadership support.
- Serve as delegate leader for research arm, with ability to supervise and guide teamwork of 20+ staff members in absentia of FCVC Administrative Director.
- Other responsibilities as directed by FCVC leadership.
Education (20%):
- Manage the continued development, implementation, and growth of several FCVC Educational initiatives, including the Cardiovascular Certificate Program, the multi-T32 cohesion and integration efforts, and the Frontiers in Science seminar program.
- Oversight of the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Program, hosting ~30 summer fellows annually, including direct and functional supervision of the program coordinator.
Phenotyping and Cell Regeneration Cores (10%):
- Serve as financial and HR contact for the Physiology Phenotyping Core. Duties include budget forecasting, revenue and expense analysis, invoicing, billing, annual recharge review and submission, account creation and reconciliation, procurement activities, effort changes, job posting, hiring and onboarding of the Cores Sonographers.
- Provide administrative consult to the Stem Cell Regeneration Core on budget forecasting, revenue and expense analysis, invoicing, billing, annual recharge review and submission.
Michigan-Israel Partnership (10%):
- Administrative oversight on the Michigan-Israel Partnership program including direct and functional supervision of the program?s Administrative Specialist. This program includes a multi-institute grant process, trainee exchange program, and an annual multi-day scientific symposium.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelors degree in business administration, healthcare administration, finance or other health-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of (3) three years experience in project or program management and demonstrated ability to prioritize complex projects simultaneously and achieve results on time.
- Minimum of (3) three years of management/leadership experience with direct supervision responsibilities.
- Minimum of (4) four years of support in research administration, inclusive of 2+ years in a basic science research environment.
- Previous experience in the development and oversight of program budgets and managing internal funding/grant programs.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgement in decision-making
- Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and web-based applications.
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.

Desired Qualifications*
- Masters degree preferred.
- Minimum of (2) two years experience with recharge billing and renewal.
- Experience supporting international research programs.
- Previous experience working with undergraduate students including job postings, hiring paperwork, onboarding, payroll and terminations.
- Experience with quality improvement processes.
- Knowledge of University and UMHS policies, rules and regulations.
Modes of Work

Background Screening
