Job Summary

The University of Michigan's Information Assurance at Michigan Medicine (IA:MM) team is seeking interested candidates for a Senior Project Manager position.  This role will manage multiple projects that are designed to safeguard institutional data.

As a Senior Project Manager, you oversee the planning and implementation of multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that the budgeting, timelines, communication, risks and constraints are managed.  You partner with a variety of technical and business teams across the organization to deliver on project scope.  You navigate the complexities of project delivery with skill and professionalism and ensure stakeholders and project teams are well aligned.

Responsibilities*

As an IT Senior Project Manager, you are responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of assigned projects, and you provide a single point of contact for those projects. You will take projects from original concept through final implementation and will interface with all areas affected by the project including end users, computer services, and client services. You define project scope and objectives, and develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports. You manage the integration of vendor tasks and tracks and reviews vendor deliverables and provide technical and analytical guidance to project team. Recommends and takes action to direct the analysis and solutions of problems.  You have experience analyzing a situation, comparing and evaluating various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision-making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree.

Required Qualifications*

Requirements for Senior Level

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ Years of Information Assurance or IT Related experience.

Requirements for Intermediate Level

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-3 Years of Information Assurance or IT related experience.

Desired Qualifications*

  • 3+ years of experience with a variety of project management frameworks and methodologies, such as Waterfall, Agile, and SCRUM.
  • Demonstrated expertise in creating and maintaining deliverables such as project scope and plan, status reports, cost estimates, communication plan, presentations, risk management plan, milestone/project schedules.  
  • Experience with four primary elements of information technology: information security, database and network management, computer technical support, and business software development.
  • 3+ years of experience facilitating projects at a large and complex organization.
  • Experience developing clear business case descriptions and scoping documents.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating with a variety of constituencies, including technical and business groups, to achieve solutions that meet both technical and business needs.
  • Experience creating consensus in ambiguous situations, or when new information is learned, and adjustments are needed.
  • Strong communication skills and business acumen.
  • Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills dealing with both IT and non-IT experienced audiences, including a diverse range of executives, faculty, IT staff, and vendors.
  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend and integrate large-scale projects to drive strategic direction.
  • Demonstrated successful performance with independent problem solving, presentations, leadership, and coordinating and completing multiple tasks within and across departments to meet changing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience with budget planning and conformance, determining project objectives and requirements, anticipating and solving problems, and developing standards and guidelines for diverse activities.
