Job Summary

University of Michigan School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS) Global Center is seeking a Project Manager. The Global Center Project Manager will oversee all aspects of University of Michigan Global Center projects and related initiatives in consultation with the Peter Czajkowski, the Senior Project Manager at McMaster University (Hamilton, Ontario). You will work directly with GCTW principal investigators and the executive committee to ensure deliverables fall within the applicable scope and budget. You will coordinate with other researchers and the senior project manager to ensure all aspects of each project are compatible and communicated. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Note: This position is 100% onsite. This position will be a two (2) year term- limited appointment with the possibility of renewal.

Responsibilities*

  • Prepare and submit Annual NSF Report and other UM-SEAS specific annual reports. 
  • Represent the Global Center at conferences, seminars, workshops, and events. 
  • Actively engage with the Executive Committee and other institutional departments to strategically identify and assess various sources of funding, capacity needs, and seek support as needed. 
  • Facilitate the Executive Committee and develop follow ups, including any requested project plans and reports, following executive committee gatherings that support the advancement of the Strategic Plan and goals of the Global Center. 
  • Monitor progress on Global Center projects to help ensure they are done on time, within scope and within budget. 
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation for the sake of communications and website updates, reporting, and events and meetings.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience (Master's degree is a plus). 
  • 2-4 years of experience in project management or in roles involving similar responsibilities.
  • Strong communication skills for both client-facing and internal interactions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and multitasking skills. 
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) / PRINCE II certification preferred. 
  • Experience with project management tools and Microsoft Office software.

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Additional Information

Salary will be determined based on experience.
