Responsibilities*

The Department of Recreational Services is seeking student staff help to create a welcoming and safe environment in the Recreation Center.  Openings include weight room attendant for the summer, fall and winter semesters.  Shifts may be days or evenings, weekdays or weekends, depending on availability.  Hourly wage begins at $15/hour. Responsibilities include providing on-site supervision of the weight room to ensure patron safety.  Light cleaning and regular checks of the cardio room and indoor track.  Greet patrons and assist with providing answers to questions.  Enforcement of facility policies. Respond to emergencies and provide first aid when necessary.   

Required Qualifications*

  • Must be a current UM-Flint student 
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion 
  • Have the ability to obtain CPR/AED/First Aid certification

Desired Qualifications*

  • Have current CPR/AED/First Aid certification
  • Work study award for current of upcoming academic semester

Modes of Work

Onsite
The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence.  Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan

Background Screening

The University of Michigan conducts background checks on all job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background checks.  Background checks are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
