Job Summary
The College of Engineering and Computer Science invites applications from current UM-Dearborn students (excluding College of Engineering and Computer Science students) for an office assistant position. This position supports the Dean's Office staff with general clerical work, phone and office coverage, and special projects. Position reports to the CECS Director of Business Operations.
Responsibilities*
The selected candidate will be responsible for general office duties including:
- Greeting students, faculty and guests
- Answering phone calls, responding to emails, and directing inquiries
- Scheduling and preparing for meetings
- Performing administrative duties such as filing, sorting mail, data entry, copying, and scanning documents
- Maintaining office supplies by tracking inventory and restocking when needed
- Assisting with special projects
Required Qualifications*
- Candidates must have customer service and communication skills, with a courteous and professional demeanor when handling phone calls, in-person inquiries, and virtual communications.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google Drive
- Attention to detail and accuracy in completing tasks.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Applications from UM-Dearborn work study students are preferred. Candidates must NOT be current CECS students.
Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
Additional Information
We are looking for one to two student employees to ensure office coverage during the hours of 10:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Please identify your availability in your cover letter.
