Job Summary

HEART stands for Health, Equity, Action, Research and Teaching and is a student and faculty collaborative pro-bono health service based in the College of Health Sciences at the University of Michigan-Flint.  Our mission is to improve health and healthcare access to the uninsured and underinsured in Flint and Genesee County through inter-personal provision of health services.  Students who serve in HEART will embrace inter-personal collaborative practice and a commitment to addressing health inequities.

As the Physical Therapy HEART Coordinator, this role will supervise Physical Therapy students at the pro-bono PT clinic HEART located at the Insight Institute Flint..

This position will report to the Associate Director for Community Engagement.  This position will be part-time with the expectation of up to 8 hours per week, a seasonal appointment (9 months). This is a 20% effort position at a salary range of $16,200 to $20,240.

Responsibilities*

  • Supervise student provision of pro-bono PT services, including the provision of physical therapy services and documentation
  • Oversee the student pro-bono board of directors and activities such as: clinician recruitment, orientation and retention; student recruitment, orientation, and retention
  • Oversee social media content from HEART
  • Operational activities including ordering supplies, maintenance of equipment
  • Annual reporting of HEART data
  • Community engagement
  • Facilitate and assist in community health screening events 
  • Assist in creating documents, tables, presentations regarding the pro-bono clinical data
  • Participate in meetings with HEART community advisory committee

Required Qualifications*

  • 1 or more years of clinical experience as a licensed physical therapist in an outpatient setting
  • Licensed as a physical therapist in the State of Michigan
  • Bachelor's degree in physical therapy or a relevant field
  • Contemporary Clinical expertise 

Modes of Work

Onsite

The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence.  Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leaded work location within or outside of the State of Michigan.

Background Screening
