Job Summary

The Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning is looking for temporary facilities support to help with the day-to-day management of facilities-related tasks for Taubman College buildings. Reporting to the facilities supervisor (our organizational chart), you will provide customer service and support for requests from faculty, staff, and students.

Note: This job is situated in Ann Arbor and daily on-campus work is required. The anticipated schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 4:30pm. The schedule may also require paid overtime for early morning, evening, and weekend hours during peak times. The employment is expected to conclude in July 2025 but could end sooner based on the needs of the department.

Responsibilities*

  • Handle requests from faculty, staff, and students for building maintenance problems
  • Install and maintain equipment and furnishings/fixtures, paint small items and areas
  • Assist with office relocations and manage the furniture moves or rearrangement
  • Collaborate with facilities supervisor and events coordinator to set up and tear down events including ensuring room cleanliness before and after events
  • Call work orders into Plant Operations Call Center and follow up on work requests to ensure their completion
  • Respond to emergency situations and coordinate mechanical repairs/failures related to equipment or the building (i.e. electrical, plumbing, power outages, vandalism, etc.)
  • Maintain building safety and security 
  • Light cleaning duties such as cleaning up spills and disposing trash
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Required Qualifications*

  • 1 year of work experience in facilities/operations or related area
  • Able to move heavy furniture and equipment throughout the Taubman College facilities
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass the University of Michigan Motor Vehicle Record check
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality record
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to communicate clearly and professionally with a large population of faculty, staff, and students.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and independently and in a team environment
