Job Summary

This position reports to the Director of Athletic Maintenance and is responsible for assisting in daily maintenance operations including all preventative and corrective maintenance work orders. Responsible for maintaining, assigning and inventory of the maintenance CMMS software program. Provide assistance for facility managers and maintenance mechanics to assure facilities are properly maintained. This is a eight (8) month assignment with a requested start date of 6/2/25.

Responsibilities*

  • Organize, assign, and schedule daily workload for maintenance staff, preventative & corrective maintenance work orders.
  • Dispatch daily work orders; determine maintenance type; provide the necessary personnel to complete tasks; communicate with facility managers and athletic department staff as issues are resolved.
  • Schedule, track and manage contractor work within the athletic campus.
  • Provide feedback and updates to facility managers; issue preventative and corrective work progress reports to include hours spent, costs and contractor work schedules.
  • Coordinate high priority work orders with facility managers and maintenance staff to ensure issues are resolved quickly and effectively.
  • Maintain Athletic Maintenance CMMS which includes updating with projects being done by the maintenance department within the athletic campus.
  • Organize, manage and oversee maintenance workshop tools/equipment.
  • Order parts/equipment, track items necessary for maintenance staff to perform PM/CM work.
  • Manage inventory within athletic facilities to ensure mechanical spaces are kept stocked and cleaned.
  • Create assets, task groups and schedules for new equipment preventative maintenance service. Update, review and organize CMMS program.
  • Prepare meeting agendas and meeting minutes following staff meetings.
  • Assist with game day operations and equipment checks for events.
  • Assist Supervisor of Maintenance with daily office duties.
  • Project yearly preventative maintenance work order schedule for work zones to project total hours required by staff to complete.
  • Assist with repair & maintenance budgeting. Provide monthly reports for PM/CM and contractor costs.
  • Set up and review safety operation guidelines for maintenance staff to include maintenance shop and facilities equipment.

Required Qualifications*

  • High School Diploma
  • Must be able to fulfill the requirements to drive a University vehicle.
  • Basic knowledge of facility maintenance operations.
  • Experience with web based work order management software.
  • Ability to coordinate and collaborate with others in a fast paced operation to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive working relationship with all team members and customers.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Working experience with the Google platform.
  • Working knowledge of game day maintenance operations including setup of football, basketball and hockey games.
  • Two years of experience in maintenance operations administration.
  • Ability to work nights, evenings and weekends.
  • Knowledge of NCAA and Big Ten Compliance rules.
  • Knowledge of EHS Safety Programs.
  • Experience with operating maintenance programs.
  • Ability to effectively and persuasively communicate with many varied audiences: Coaches, staff, student-athletes, customers, vendors, fans, etc.
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in construction management, supply chain management, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field.
