Job Summary
The University of Michigan School of Dentistry is one of the nation's leading dental schools engaged in oral health care education, research, patient care and community service. The successful candidate will be working as part of a team to provide a high level of service to all areas of Admissions at the School of Dentistry, specifically for the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), Internationally Trained Dentist Program (ITDP), and dental specialty Master of Science programs.
The position provides support to professional and graduate student programs where the School of Dentistry is the admitting unit, and to programs where Rackham Graduate School is the admitting unit. Reporting to the Admissions Director, you will provide outstanding customer service, demonstrate a commitment to be a part of our team, create a positive work environment and be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Responsibilities*
Admissions/Recruitment
Respond to inquiries about our programs and process applications for DDS, ITDP and specialty master's degree programs using technology across several platforms. Use University and other internal and external software to track and process all steps of the application process. Assist with student matriculation to the program listed.
Event Planning
Collaborate with the Admissions Team to plan and carry out student interview and orientation events. Work with the Admissions Team and represent the School of Dentistry at various recruitment events, both in-person and virtual. Assist with planning other events as needed. Act as information expert with matters related to matriculation. Use multiple platforms to complete student matriculation for DDS, ITDP and master's degree. Work with specific staff on matters related to incoming international students who require a student visa for study.
Administrative/Advising
Engage with prospective students through various communication methods including phone and email. Assist with maintenance of posted information on our website and other discipline-related outlets. Provide prospective student advising as needed and manage associated advising calendars
Analytics
Demonstrate strong technology skills to assist with data collection which may include learning new software and other technology necessary to support the Admissions office. Work on special projects as assigned by the Admissions Director.
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and recent relevant experience. Candidates must have 2-3 years of recent office work with previous experience in organizing data, using Microsoft Office and Google, and excellent demonstrated writing and editing skills. Ideal candidate will posess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to embrace new projects and find creative solutions. Candidate will be self-motivated, highly dependable, have a positive attitude and ability to problem solve. Demonstrated problem solving skills are paramount for this position. Candidate will have the ability to learn new skills as needed, including software and other technology to support an admissions office. Ability to manage time and priorities in a busy environment, take direction and work effectively as a team member. Must exercise discretion with handling confidential and sensitive data. Excellent attendance record. Must be able to move materials up to 20 pounds to a height of 3-4 feet and set them on tables, carts, or other surfaces. Some evening and weekend work as needed.
Desired Qualifications*
A Bachelor's degree with 2 years of experience in student services administration. Student services experience within the University of Michigan or School of Dentistry. Prior experience with Wolverine Access. Considerable knowledge of U-M policies and procedures.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be required for certain events. This position may be eligible for some flexible work opportunities at the discretion of the hiring department. During the first 3 months of onboarding, an onsite schedule is required. Flexible work agreements are reviewed annually and are subject to change dependent on the business needs of the hiring department.
