AEC is seeking experienced electricians to join our internal construction delivery team. This team is responsible for the construction, renovation, and improvement projects across campus.

Responsibilities*
- Read and interpret construction drawings, diagrams, sketches, circuit diagrams and technical specifications.
- Survey jobsites to assess work scope, prepare material take-offs and estimates for electrical jobs.
- Perform routine and complex electrical work including the installation of electrical raceway, wiring, fixtures, and equipment.
- Fabricate and install control and distribution apparatus including switches, relays and circuit-breaker panels.
- Cut, thread, bind and route conduit and pull wire.
- Test continuity of electrical circuits in installed or repaired equipment using electrical measuring instruments.
- Analyze malfunctions of electrical equipment using ammeter, volt-meter, ohmmeter drawings and visual inspections.
- Cut or bore through walls, ceilings or partitions.
- Use of power and hand tools. Frequent lifting and bending required with the execution of daily work duties.
- Ensure electrical installations meet appropriate codes and university and industry standards.
- Comply with applicable safety standards.
Required Qualifications*
- Ability to perform all duties listed in responsibilities above.
- Graduation from high school or equivalent and specialized training in electrical work.
- State of Michigan Journeyman or Master's Electrical license.
- Ability to work proficiently, accurately and to make and keep schedule commitments.
- Considerable knowledge of the equipment, methods and materials involved in electrical work.
- Reasonable manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work from ladders and scaffolding.
- Reasonable computer skills; must be able to use a computer tablet & desktop for such tasks as time entry, work assignments, email, reporting on job status and others.
- Ability to exercise tact and discretion in relationships with others.
- Ability to work well within a teamwork environment.
- Service orientation and willingness to do various levels and kinds of electrical tasks.
- Proven ability to provide professional customer service.
- Must be able to fulfill the necessary requirements to drive a University vehicle.
Desired Qualifications*
- Experience with field end control device termination and control wiring installation.
- Experience with emergency generators and automatic transfer switches.
- Experience working with electrical distribution systems.
- Experience with variable frequency drives and soft starters.
- Familiarity and advanced troubleshooting skills with electrical technical systems with heavy focus on Variable Frequency Drives, including installation, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to troubleshoot AC, DC, and solid-state components of variable frequency drives.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot electronic circuitry.
- Strong knowledge of controls, including operation, troubleshooting, repairing, and assisting with design of new systems and controls.
- Familiarity with Siemens direct digital control systems.
- Experience in all aspects of electrical construction; commercial & industrial.
- Experience working with an automated work order system.
- Experience as an electrical foreman.
Work Schedule
Hours are 7 AM to 3:15 PM, Monday-Friday
