Job Summary

The University of Michigan Shared Services Center (U-M SSC) is a customer service organization focused on providing user-friendly and cost-effective administrative services to the university community. The SSC offers key financial and human resource transactional support.

Reporting to the Statement of Activity (SOA) Supervisor, you will analyze and reconcile select procurement, financial, and payroll transactions and complete all associated tasks. You will collaborate as part of a team with departments, internal partners, and other SSC departments.

Work Location:

Because occasional on-site presence may be required, you are expected to live within a reasonable commuting distance to Ann Arbor. You are required to have a high-speed internet connection and a designated working space in your home. Equipment, including a laptop and monitors, will be provided for your use.

Responsibilities*

  • You will spend up to 85% completing transactions while meeting productivity and accuracy metrics and team standards.
  • Reconcile financial and payroll transactions for the University by reviewing source documentation and department approval information
  • Research and correct errors identified through the reconciliation process
  • Prepare and process journal entries as required
  • Process earmarks per customer request to record planned expenditures or expected revenue
  • Identify and improve internal processes designed to improve efficiency and overall customer experience
  • Build mutually beneficial relationships with colleagues, internal customers, and other central partners

Required Qualifications*

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of experience providing customer service
  • Intermediate level proficiency with data entry and computer skills
  • 1+ years of experience with business software solutions
