Job Summary

This engaging role supports the Academic Advising and Success department in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters (CASL).  We seek a proactive individual to deliver efficient and exceptional student services support while handling vital administrative duties. Responsibilities*

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
 

  • Respond to cases in Salesforce and route to others as appropriate (answering basic student and faculty questions, entering registration overrides, referring to other offices, etc). (Daily)
  • Review and make decisions on forms submitted by students (Change of Program, Declaration of Certificate, Declaration of Pre-Professional Attributes, etc), route to the appropriate office for processing, and notify students of the decision and next steps. (Daily)
  • Readmission applications: match student record in Salesforce, tag advisor, notify student of decision and next steps. (Daily)
  • Assist student workers at the front desk and on the phone as needed. Cover the front desk and phones when student workers are unavailable. (Daily)
  • Prep petitions for biweekly CASL Academic Standards Committee meetings. (Biweekly)
  • Maintain three-year plans: regularly contact disciplines for updates and change posted plans accordingly (Once a semester)
  • Website updates (Occasionally)
  • Purchasing and reconciliation (Monthly)
  • Assist director and assistant directors as needed (Occasionally)
     

Required Qualifications*

Seeking a self-motivated individual with interests in the area of higher education administration who possesses the following qualifications, attributes, and skills: 

  • High school education or equivalent and at least 2 years of experience in a related area 
  • Demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills and positive service-oriented attitude
  • Ability to take initiative, solve problems, adapt to changes quickly, make independent judgements, and work effectively and independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information..
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a culturally diverse environment .
  • Ability to work as a part of a team.
  • Experience with prioritizing and handling multiple assignments and deadlines simultaneously when needed; ability to adjust to changing priorities and receive direction from multiple people.
     

Desired Qualifications*

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of office-related administrative support experience.
  • Experience with M-Pathways, Banner, Salesforce and other U-M administrative systems.
  • Administrative support experience in a U-M student services or advising department.
  • Experience in higher education, experience in student records
  • Familiarity with university travel/expense, and procurement policies and procedures is highly desired.
  • Proficiency in the Google Suite
     

Work Schedule

40 hours per week Monday through Friday from 8:00 am through 5:00 pm. This position may be eligible for some flexible work opportunities at the discretion of the hiring department. During the first 6 months of onboarding, an onsite schedule is required. Flexible work agreements are reviewed annually and are subject to change depending on the business needs of the hiring department.
