Job Summary

We seek a summer student to participate interested in learning about lab research and to participate in translational studies of prostate and kidney cancer. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to perform experiments using various state-of-the-art techniques involving cell and molecular biology. This position also provides the opportunity to learn cutting-edge primary cell culture techniques required for cultivating human and murine cells. The selected candidate will facilitate primary cell culture and assist with executing experiments under the supervision of the laboratory manager and principal investigator. 

Responsibilities*

  • Perform mRNA extraction, cDNA conversion, and qRTPCR.
  • Maintain primary cell cultures and cell lines for experiments.
  • Analyze protein expression and cell signaling by western blotting.
  • Contribute to general lab upkeep.

Required Qualifications*

  • HS Diploma or associate degree
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office

Desired Qualifications*

  • A bachelor's degree in biological science or health sciences
  • A strong motivation to advance research and laboratory techniques, along with the ability to solve problems and develop new research directions, is desired. Preference will be given to applicants who take initiative and work well with other research team members.
  • Proficiency in English, strong work ethic, computer (word processing, PowerPoint, and spreadsheet software), and communication skills are required.
