Responsibilities*

  • Evaluate and treat patients with diseases, injuries, disorders and disabilities, to relieve pain, develop or restore function and enhance maximum performance.
  • This position will rotate within our adult Medical Surgical and Cardiovascular Acute Care Teams.
  • Position may have coverage responsibilities in all adult hospitals.

Required Qualifications*

  • Master's or DPT degree in physical therapy or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
  • Possession of a current state license to practice physical therapy in Michigan is required
  • Satisfactory completion of an internship program.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in patient treatment is necessary.
  • Experience in an acute care setting at an academic medical center or large tertiary hospital is preferred.

New graduates with strong clinical rotations will be considered. Requirements for underfill:

  • Eligible for State of Michigan license - awaiting licensure
  • Master's or DPT degree in physical therapy or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
  • Satisfactory completion of an internship program.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in patient treatment is necessary. 

Work Schedule

Schedule to be determined but will include one weekend day as part of the regular schedule, plus occasional holidays.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
