Information and Technology Services (ITS) is searching for an AI Product Delivery Lead to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of AI at U-M. In this role, you will lead agile development, optimize workflows, and drive strategic initiatives that prioritize security, privacy, accessibility, and equity. Responsibilities*

Agile Program Management: Lead agile events including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming. Serve as Scrum Master for the AI services team, ensuring efficient, iterative delivery and cross-team coordination that aligns with institutional objectives.

Product Roadmap Execution: Translate user needs and strategic goals into actionable product roadmaps. Manage feature planning, prioritization, and release cycles to deliver scalable, secure, and high-impact AI services.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Build strong relationships with faculty, staff, and technical teams to gather feedback, manage expectations, and communicate priorities, risks, and progress throughout the product lifecycle.

UX & Human-Centered Design Integration: Ensure that AI services are designed with accessibility, usability, and equity at the forefront. Collaborate with UX designers and researchers to integrate human-centered design principles into product development.

Compliance, Privacy & Risk Alignment: Align AI service delivery with university policies and standards around data privacy, cybersecurity, accessibility, and ethical AI use. Coordinate with compliance and legal teams as needed.

Ongoing Learning & Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest trends in web development, AI, security, privacy, and accessibility. Allocate time for training and attending industry events to ensure that the UM GPT suite remains state-of-the-art.

Continuous Improvement & Metrics: Define KPIs, collect usage analytics, and lead retrospectives to assess product performance and delivery effectiveness. Apply insights to improve workflows, user experience, and service quality.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in AI product management  or software project management.
  • Proven experience in user research, interaction design, and human-centered AI development.
  • Hands-on proficiency with Jira and Confluence in an agile delivery environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Agile/Scrum methodologies, including sprint planning and roadmap execution.
  • Ability to translate complex AI and technical concepts into intuitive, user-friendly product experiences.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with a focus on cross-functional team engagement.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related field.
  • Experience working in higher education, research institutions, or enterprise-scale AI deployments.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.
  • Previous experience using the TDX API or integrating with enterprise IT service management platforms.
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations, AI ethics principles, and compliance standards (e.g., FERPA, GDPR, university-specific policies).

Additional Information

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance is required.  Ability to work on technical equipment installed at heights of 10 feet or higher.  Normal amount of being stationary, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amounts of work at a computer.  Requires travel to various locations on the UM campuses and moves through buildings including stairways with test equipment weighing up to 40 lbs. utilizing proper safety techniques.  May require working during non-business hours and on weekends.  Responsible for protecting data and information from unauthorized release or from loss, alteration, or unauthorized deletion; and, following applicable regulations and instructions regarding access to computerized files, release of data, etc. as stated in a computer access agreement which the incumbent signs.
