Responsibilities*

Analyze both chipped stone and ground stone lithic artifacts from Southeast Michigan, including identification of source material, tool and projectile point type, use wear, and aspects of debitage, such as primary, secondary, or tertiary, flake v. shatter, and any other relevant features. Catalog into an excel spreadsheet, including counts and weights for individual artifacts (or lots with the exact same description and provenience).

Required Qualifications*

Deep familiarity with Midwest (specifically Michigan) lithic sources, artifacts from paleo, archaic, woodland/Mississippian, and colonial periods, and access to all appropriate reference collections, materials, and basic lab tools (scale, calipers, etc.) as needed to perform the analysis.

Modes of Work
