Job Summary

The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, and the Department of Chemistry at the University of Michigan invite applications for a Lecturer I position at 66.67% effort for the Fall 2025 (August 25, 2025- December 31, 2025).  This appointment is scheduled to begin on August 25, 2025 and end on December 31, 2025.

Responsibilities*

Instruction of lecture and laboratory component of undergraduate courses in the Department of Chemistry for the fall term (August 25, 2025 - December 31, 2025). This includes development, updating, preparation, and delivery of lecture and laboratory exercises; grading exams and homework assignments; supervision of Graduate Student Instructors; grading of assignments, quizzes, and exams; and meeting with students virtually during office hours.

Required Qualifications*

The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biophysics, or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates who are Research Fellows in good standing in the Department of Chemistry or the Program in Biophysics. Experience instructing introductory Chemistry courses and demonstrated excellence in teaching is required.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
