Job Summary
This position will be responsible for, under the direction of the Head Women's Field Hockey Coach, all phases of a Division I Women's Field Hockey program, within University, Big Ten Conference and NCAA rules and regulations. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting student-athletes to achieve exceptionally high athletic and academic goals, on-field training of team and individuals, recruitment of prospective student-athletes and community relations.
Responsibilities*
- Assist the head coach in the planning, organizing, directing, and implementing all phases of a Division I Women's Field Hockey program.
- Develop and maintain positive, respectful relationships with student-athletes.
- Organize, plan, and manage practices and games.
- Assemble and prepare scouting reports of upcoming and post-game opponents.
- Participate in on and off-campus evaluation and recruitment of student-athletes including evaluation, building a relationship with the recruit, coordination of all unofficial and official visits of recruits and monitoring progress through NCAA Clearinghouse.
- Assist in the monitoring of student-athletes' academic progress.
- Participate in public relations and fundraising efforts as requested.
- Comply with NCAA, Big Ten, and University regulations.
- Must work with and communicate effectively with all team members and support staff within Michigan Athletics and the UM community.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Previous coaching and/or playing experience at the Division I level or higher.
- Thorough knowledge of NCAA rules and intercollegiate athletics.
- Knowledge and experience recruiting at the Division I level.
- Ability to train and motivate athletes.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication, organization, and computer skills.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check and NCAA recruiting test.
Desired Qualifications*
- Working knowledge of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
