Job Summary

The omHealth Lab, within the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan, is seeking a Study Coordinator for a new project designing mobile health tools to support emotion regulation skills training to promote physical and emotional wellbeing. In conducting this project, we hope to provide better understanding of the affective, cognitive, and neural mechanisms underlying normative and disordered emotion regulation. The study uses clinical interviews and questionnaires, cognitive testing, and smartphone and wearable based measures to assess emotionally evocative moments that arise in daily life assessment. This position is ideal position for someone interested in pursuing graduate school in a related field (clinical psychology, neuroscience, psychiatry).

Responsibilities*

Day to day responsibilities will include: 

  • Participant recruitment (via the community, UMHealthResearch, UM inpatient psychiatry, existing research registries).
  • Perform diagnostic screens, obtain informed consent, and schedule potential research participants.
  • Coordinate study visits, study compliance, and day-to-day operation of the project.
  • Collect data and perform basic quality assurance and pre-processing of data.
  • Assess mood and cognitive functioning in participants using standardized questionnaires, diagnostic interviews, and neuropsychological assessments. Set up of mobile and wearable applications on smartphones.
  • Assist in preparation of IRB applications, progress reports, and continuing reviews. 
  • Create and manage study materials (Standard Operating Procedures, recruitment materials, etc.).

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • One or more years of experience in a mental health, research, or other related field.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Quick thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to change tasks quickly and frequently. 
  • Familiarity with programming (e.g. Python R Studio, etc.) is a plus. 

Work Schedule

Full time, Monday - Friday.

Additional Information

This is a one-year term limited position, with the opportunity for renewal contingent on the continued availability of funds. At the end of the stated term, the appointment will terminate, and you will not be eligible for Reduction-in-Force (RIF) Benefits. This term-limited appointment does not create a contract or guarantee of employment for any period of time as you will remain subject to disciplinary or other performance measures, up to and including termination, at the will of the University in accordance with existing University policy and standards for employee performance and conduct. 

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.

In addition to the screenings indicated above under Michigan law, a criminal history check including fingerprinting is required as a condition of transfer or employment for this position.
