Responsibilities*

Welcome Desk Coverage - (15%)

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of office communication, front desk operations, and program schedules, and daily front desk procedures..
  • Ensure the front desk is adequately stocked with resources and communicate updates effectively to staff. The ability to address inquiries or direct them to the appropriate program.  

Event and Program Planning and Execution - (25%)

  • Facilitate workshops using relevant information and diverse learning styles to engage participants and gather feedback. 
  • Support logistical aspects of event planning, including tracking attendees, securing venues, confirming details, and creating materials such as brochures and sign-in sheets. 
  • Assist with scheduling and overseeing event setup and closure to ensure smooth execution throughout all stages: pre-event, during the event, and post-event. 
  • Aid in aligning event and program execution with intended outcomes through thorough topic research, audience-appropriate content, clear objectives, and opportunities to reinforce knowledge and assess effectiveness. 
  • Help track and monitor data for program management and assessment plans, including evaluating the quality of programs and events, documenting attendance, and gathering feedback to support program-wide data management.

Student Support - (25%)

  • Provide tutoring, mentoring, or advice to students to support postsecondary retention and academic success.
  • Conduct one-on-one or group tutoring sessions for students to understand their degree plan.  Connect students with additional resources, such as mental health services, financial aid, or career counseling.
  • Lead study skills workshops (time management, note-taking, and exam preparation, etc.).

Outreach and Communication - (25%)

  • Represent, build, and maintain relationships with program partners, sponsors, and participants, both internal and external. 
  • Collaborate with community organizations, businesses, and other relevant entities to support the program while seeking stakeholder feedback to enhance program quality.
  • Identify and engage target audiences to raise awareness of the organization's programs and services. Communicate program updates, schedules, and important information to all relevant parties. 
  • Create and distribute newsletters, brochures, flyers, emails, and other communications related to the program.

Confidentiality, Compliance, and Reporting - (10%)

  • Handle sensitive information with discretion, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with program policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Prepare and submit reports to program managers. 


 

Required Qualifications*

  • Must be a college or university student
  • At least one year of relevant experience 
  • Proficient computer and writing skills
  • A strengths-based approach, with sensitivity and respect for the needs of a diverse student population. 
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. 
     

Desired Qualifications*

  • Prior experience in student engagement, focusing on college motivation, confidence-building, and postsecondary success
  • Basic knowledge of the MPowering My Success Program
  • Future Faculty Fellow Participant

Modes of Work

Hybrid
The work requirements allow both onsite and offsite work and an employee has an expected recurring onsite presence. On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by unit leadership or their designee and/or the job requirements.

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Background Screening
