Job Summary
The Communications Manager will be integral in guiding and enhancing our communication efforts, creating a cohesive strategy that aligns with our mission, and supporting both internal teams and external outreach. This individual will ensure our brand maintains a strong presence through strategic communications, digital engagement, and effective content creation, thereby enhancing the visibility of CHRT across local, state and national levels.

The Center for Health & Research Transformation (CHRT) inspires and enables evidence-informed policies and practices that improve the health of people and communities. CHRT's revenue comes from a combination of corporate sponsorships, grants and contracts.
Responsibilities*
40% Branding and Outreach Management
- Develop and maintain branded materials, ensuring consistency across all communication channels.
- Lead digital strategy initiatives, including website and social media management, to expand reach and engage stakeholders.
- Generate and manage content for newsletters, press releases, and online platforms, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines.
- Develop and execute the dissemination strategy for CHRT issue and policy briefs, crafting key messages and utilizing appropriate communication tools.
- Analyze digital engagement metrics to inform strategic decisions and adapt brand and content strategies.
- Supervise student intern as assigned.
35% Strategic Communications Planning
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy in collaboration with leadership to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Consistently integrate key messages across all communication platforms.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies, making adjustments as necessary.
- Manage the Communications budget
- Oversee relationships with vendors and coordinate the management of external contractors, ensuring that all deliverables align with project requirements and brand standards.
25% Stakeholder and Media Relations
- Cultivate relationships with media outlets and key stakeholders to enhance coverage, outreach, and influence.
- Craft and pitch stories, manage media inquiries, and analyze coverage trends for strategic opportunities.
- Collaborate on engagement activities and event planning, producing supporting materials and presentations.
- Oversee media and public inquiries to ensure timely responses and effective communication between CHRT representatives and external parties.
- Establish partnerships to enhance promotion of CHRT's publications and initiatives.
Required Qualifications*
- At least 5-7 years in communications strategy, brand management, digital strategy, and content creation.
- Proven experience applying best practices in digital marketing, content strategy, and public relations.
- Experience in engaging with a variety of stakeholders, collaborating with other communicators and the media.
- Demonstrated ability to create compelling content across multiple formats (written articles, social media, graphics, email campaigns, video).
- Strong project management skills including the ability to set priorities, multi-task, and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Technical proficiency with WordPress and Constant Contact, common office software (MS Office, Google suite), design software (Adobe, Canva), and social media platforms.
- Strong analytical skills to measure and adjust communication strategies.
- Ability to work independently and make decisive contributions to business operations.
- Attention to detail, being highly organized and thorough.
Desired Qualifications*
- Experience working in public health, public policy, or related field.
- Quick in learning new software and design tools
- Experience with Monday.com
Modes of Work

Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
