Job Summary
This is an hourly position for current and incoming UM-Dearborn students (work-study preferred, but not required).
- Support the University Unions & Events team by providing excellent customer service to clients interested in planning meetings and events on campus

- Assist student organizations in planning events by providing the facilities, services, and resources needed to make their events run effectively and efficiently
- Willing to learn and utilize event planning best practices, using them collaboratively in designing optimal satisfaction for all University Unions & Events guests
- Collaborate with catering team, University Ambassadors and Building Managers, and Event Services/Operations team as needed to support the team in delivering an experience that exceeds your customer's expectations
- Reserve meeting spaces across campus for student organizations and send confirmations to clients and campus services, as needed
- Communicate professionally with clients by phone, email and in person to ensure a quality program planning experience from start to finish
- Communicate scheduled event details with University Unions & Events and UM-Dearborn colleagues and stakeholders that support guest safety, security and detail accuracy
- Compile accurate set-up, furnishings and audio-visual equipment details on reservations for University Center and Fairlane Center clients in 25Live
- Greet client on day of event and communicate any necessary changes/updates to staff as necessary
- Assist with daily event management such as unlocking rooms, setting up audio-visual equipment, setting up rooms, etc. as necessary
- Review future reservations for completeness, accuracy and potential issues
- Generate reports and other data as required
- Create room set-up diagrams in Microsoft Visio
- Communicate with clients about the University's policies and procedures and be familiar with appropriate campus alternatives to meet their event planning needs if necessary
- Assist with policy and resource development that would help the University Unions & Events team better serve the UM-Dearborn community
- Other duties as assigned to support the University Unions and Events team
Required Qualifications*
- Currently enrolled UM-Dearborn student in good standing
- Knowledgeable in Google Suite, MS Word, Excel and other Microsoft software
- Excellent professionalism, customer service and communication skills
- Above standard attention to detail and accuracy
- Able to work well with minimum supervision
- Able to exhibit a cooperative spirit in working with peers, supervisors, clients, and guests
- Demonstrated willingness to look for and take on new projects as they appear
- Be well educated about all University and community activities
- Act in accordance with all policies and procedures outlines in the Student Employee Handbook and other University of Michigan-Dearborn policies
- Must be able to attend mandatory training the week of August 17, 2025
