Job Summary
The Michigan Value Collaborative (MVC), housed at the University of Michigan, is seeking an experienced leader to join the team in the role of Director. MVC is a statewide hospital and physician organization collaborative quality initiative (CQI), aiming to improve the health of Michigan through sustainable, high-value healthcare and enable Michigan patients to access the right care, at the right cost, at the right time. MVC provides hospital and physician organization leaders with claims-based healthcare utilization data to empower local quality improvement activities. In addition to leveraging claims data, the MVC team support a number of platforms to help facilitate collaboration and the sharing of best practices between its members.
The MVC Director assumes primary leadership responsibility for all administrative, operational, and strategic activities. The incumbent will be tasked with leading the development, implementation, and continued refinement of MVCs overarching strategic framework, ensuring the delivery of clearly identified and communicated short-term and long-term objectives. The MVC Director will chair MVCs Clinical Executive Committee and leverage insights to shape effective delivery. MVCs Director will also lead all related financial and HR activities for the organization, including the preparation of financial budgets and reports, ongoing management of recruitment and onboarding activity, and oversight of the continued professional development of all MVC staff. MVCs Director will directly lead MVCs management team and supporting personnel, totaling 14 FTEs and nine PTEs.
With MVC representing a central part of the wider CQI portfolio, the MVC Director will also help drive the portfolios strategic objective of value generation and alignment in delivery. As part of this, the incumbent will chair the Chief Quality Officer Advisory Committee and work closely with the CQI Operations office to coordinate strategic efforts across all CQIs. In doing so, the Director will serve in an Advisory capacity to the BCBSM Value Partnerships leadership team to help inform ongoing strategic planning efforts.

Responsibilities*
- Lead the development, implementation, and continued refinement of MVCs overarching strategic framework, ensuring the delivery of clearly identified and communicated short-term and long-term objectives
- Oversee MVCs strategic quarterly planning process and assume leadership responsibility for priority setting, resource allocation, and project delivery
- Chair MVCs Clinical Executive Committee to invite input into the development and delivery of MVC initiatives
- Lead all related financial and HR activities for the organization, including the preparation of financial budgets and reports, ongoing management of recruitment and onboarding activity, and oversight of the continued professional development of all MVC staff
- Oversee MVCs core management team and supporting staff to monitor implementation and progress of MVCs operational initiatives, facilitating problem solving and continued collaboration
- Serve as the administrative lead for the MVC Component of the BCBSM P4P Program and MVCs role in delivering ROI and value assessments in partnership with the CQI portfolio
- Serve as the leadership point of contact for all MVC stakeholders, including other Collaborative Quality Initiatives, CQI Operations, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, local agencies, and MVC members

- Chair the CQIO Chief Quality Officer Advisory Committee and work closely with the CQI Operations office to coordinate strategic efforts

Required Qualifications*
- Bachelors degree in related field/discipline
- Experience developing and implementing organizational strategy, with a proven track record for achieving strategic objectives
- Previous experience leading an organization in the healthcare arena, including the supervision of multiple full-time employees
- Excellent critical strategic thinking, creative problem solving, and expert collaboration skills, as well as an ability to work under pressure and reliably meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills
- Professional, team-driven attitude, and proven ability to take initiative
Desired Qualifications*
- Masters degree in related field/discipline
- Previous experience working with the BCBSM Collaborative Quality Initiatives
- Familiarity with University of Michigan policies, procedures, and data systems
Modes of Work
